Welcome                                                                                                    Rev. Eric S. Anderson

Prelude: Lead On, O King Eternal                                                      Kayleen Yuda, piano
                                                                                                                        Paul Arceo, trumpet

Call to Worship: based on Habakkuk 1:1-4, 2:1-4                        John Narruhn

Leader: How long will you cry for help to the LORD? How long will you raise your voice in desperation?
People: Why must we see wrong-doing and trouble? Why must we bear illness and loss?

Leader: Take your place at a watch post. Station yourself where you can perceive things far away.
People: There we will watch and see how God will respond to our complaint.

Leader: God says, “There is still a vision for the appointed time. It will surely come; it will not delay.”
People: In faith, we turn away from pride, for the righteous live by their faith.

All: Let us worship God!

Invocation: based on Psalm 32:1-7                                                    John Narruhn

“Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,” O God. So the Psalmist has written, and so we have found in the course of our lives. When we have known guilt, it has weighed us down. When we have found forgiveness, our spirits have sprung up. On this day we celebrate the grace you have given us through the people who have borne your blessing. Receive our thanks for their lives, for the ways in which you moved in their lives, and for the glories of your grace. Amen.

Scripture                                                                                                    John Narruhn

2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, 11-12
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace from God ourFather and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Therefore we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith during all your persecutions and the afflictions that you are enduring.

To this end we always pray for you, asking that our God will make you worthy of his call and will fulfill by his power every good resolve and work of faith, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 19:1-10
He entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax-collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.’ So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, ‘He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.’ Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, ‘Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.’

Please stand and join me in the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Call to Offering                                                                                        John Narruhn

The saints of Christ’s Church have shared their wisdom, their spirits, and their hearts with us. In their time, they shared their tangible wealth as well. Let us follow their example and give with wisdom, spirit, and heart. Whether you share your gift here in the church today, through a gift online, or via an envelope in the mail, let the offering now be received.
