What I’m Thinking: Walk, Mary, Walk
It‘s the first What I’m Thinking after Easter – which means thinking is hard. How about a song?
Here’s a transcript (which includes the lyrics but not the music):
In the week after Easter, like many Christian clergy I find it difficult to think about much of anything. For a few years now, though, I’ve written a song for Easter and shared it in this first What I’m Thinking of the Easter season. And once again, I’ve done it this year.
“Walk, Mary, Walk”
Walk, Mary, walk
Walk to the graveside before the sunrise
Let your tears flow
The tomb is open. Where can you go?
Run, Mary, run
Back to the city from which you’d begun
Seek your friends’ aid
They look – they leave you at the empty grave.
Weep, Mary, weep
Weep, Mary, weep
Why are you weeping they ask; you reply:
“Where is my Lord?”
Your eyes glaze with tears but you turn in surprise
Mary, he’s called your name.
Mary, he’s called your name.
Weep your tears of joy
Into a warm embrace.
Come, sing us your song!
“I have seen the Lord, I have seen his face!”
Rise, Mary, rise!
Rise, Mary, rise!
Rise, Mary, rise!
That’s what I’m singing. I’m curious to hear what you’re thinking. Leave me your thoughts in the comment section below. I’d love to hear from you.
