Christmas Pageant 2021
One of the pieces absent from our church life over the last year has been the leadership of our keiki. I have missed the sound of their singing in the IYAA choir, their responses during story times, and of course the sound of the old, old story retold in youthful voices. We have found a way to return the Christmas Pageant to our season of celebration this year, and I am so grateful to them and to all the Board of Christian Education members, Sunday School teachers, and parents who brought it together. We filmed a video, of course. Titled “Do Not Be Afraid,” the short film centers on the Angel Gabriel, whose report to the Chief Angel includes a lot of explanations. Gabriel, you see, had been scaring people a lot. I could go into more detail, but I think you’d do better to watch the video than to listen to my description of it.
We’re premiering the video this coming Sunday, December 12, at 3:00 pm. Visit holycrosshilo.com and click the link for “Christmas Pageant 2021: Do Not Be Afraid.” Click the red “Play” button and at 3 o’clock it will begin. Angels, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, Gabriel – there’s even a sheep on hand to give an earnest, “Baaa!” Most of all, these are the keiki we love and whose faces we’ve longed to see. Enjoy this time with them, and pray for better times to come.
With aloha, Pastor Eric
