Rev. Eric S. Anderson, Pastor
Rev. Jonathan Roach, Guest Pastor

Welcome                                                                                 Rev. Jonathan Roach

Prelude: In This Holy Hour—Livingston, Jr.                            Kayleen Yuda

Call to Worship                                                                      Gloria Kobayashi

One: Lord Jesus, we call upon you: Save us!
All: We are intimidated by what we see around us; distracted from your purpose; drowning in fear and doubt. Save us!

One: We are presumptuous about your will; thinking we are in control; we are masters of our own destiny; the best and brightest of all your creation. Save us!
All: We have hardened our hearts to the suffering of our siblings; feeding ourselves in the face of the injustice that holds them captive. Save us!

One: Lord Jesus, who knows our hearts, lift us from the crashing waves of our fear and doubt; give us the grace to humbly walk with you in faith, hope, and love. Thank you for saving us again!

Invocation                                                                              Gloria Kobayashi

All: Son of God the Creator, you walked upon the waters of turmoil to meet us in the midst of the storms of live. Empower us to recognize your presence, feel your hope, embrace your promise, reply upon your power, and receive your peace this day and for all the days and nights to come. Amen!

Hymn: Great is Your Faithfulness #423                                    Doug Albertson & Friends

Scripture: Matthew 14:22-33                                                   Gloria Kobayashi

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”  When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
