Assembling the Bible

Come join us on Thursday evenings in Lent from 6:30 to 7:30 to learn more about how the Bible came to be. We’ll look at the time-lines, the periods the Bible describes, the periods the Biblical books were written, and the periods when the Bible was taking its shape. We’ll look at the identifiable authors, learn a little about the anonymous writers, and consider the editors who put earlier works together.

The group will meet in the Pastor’s Study on these evenings: March 28, April 4, and April 11. Come join us!

Holy Week Observations

On Sunday, April 14, we will wave our palm branches with joy and wonder, celebrating Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem – then hear the somber sequel, as we read the Passion account in full.

Thursday evening, April 18, we will gather for worship at 7:00 pm with members and leaders of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa and the United Church of Christ of Pohnpei. We will join in Holy Communion in remembrance of Jesus’ Last Supper, then dim the lights as we hear the story of the rising shadows.

On Good Friday, April 19, the sanctuary will be open for personal prayer from noon until 3:00 pm. Pastor Eric will read the Seven Last Words of Jesus at intervals during the afternoon.

Easter Egg decorating will be held on Saturday, April 20 – details to follow.

On Sunday morning, April 21, you are welcome at Wainaku Executive Center at 6:00 am for the Easter Sunrise service. Back at the Church of the Holy Cross, children will hunt for Easter Eggs around the campus before worship at 10:00 am.
