Update: All Saints Sunday, October 28

UPDATE:

The sanctuary glowed with a long line of candles as Church of the Holy Cross members and friends remembered de-ceased loved ones during the annual All Saints Sunday worship service on October 28. Chair of the Board of Deacons Eric Tanouye read the names of sixteen people who have passed away since the previous year’s observance, and Anita Mathews sounded the bell as friends or family members kindled a light. Worshipers, including

members of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa, then lit additional candles in memory of others who have gone to God in previous years, giving thanks for those lives and treasuring those memories.

Following the service, everyone followed the beguiling scents of the pot-luck lunch to the Building of Faith. They got to see the pumpkins decorated by the Sunday School children, and the buzz of laughter and conversation rose as the platters were filled and emptied. Hui Okinawa Taiko stepped up to the drums at noon and drove their complex and exciting rhythms into the very heart and soul.

Thanks to all who made the day possible, particularly everyone who helped in the kitchen, set up the tables and chairs, and assisted with clean-up. It was a soul-filling day.
