Wanted: CHC Council Secretary
In recent months, Church of the Holy Cross has been trying to function without a familiar and very important member of the Council. Health concerns have led our long-time Secretary, Margaret Torigoe, to relinquish her position. She is sorely missed! Other Council members have volunteered on an interim basis to take minutes of meetings, but this is only a temporary solution.
The Secretary, as one of the church’s elected officers, plays a key role in the life of the church. Under our by-laws, s/he serves as the recording and corresponding secretary to the Council, maintains files of communications and official re-ports (such as the Annual Report), gives official notification to all persons elected as officers and board members, and provides legal notice of all meetings when required.
This is only a small portion of what Margaret Torigoe has done in her time as Secretary. But it is an essential part, and can’t be done by a committee. It requires a person dedicated to the task. Could it be you? If you have administrative experience—or even if you don’t but are willing to learn—you may be the person we need as Secretary.
If you are interested, or even just curious, talk to Bob Smith (Nominations chair), Woody Kita, or any member of Council
