Church of the Holy Cross now in the Blue Zone
Church of the Holy Cross has received its approval for certification as an official “Blue Zones Project Faith-based Organization.”
Thanks to the members of The Gathering Place who took on the responsibility of meeting the requirements to qualify, which included activities to encourage healthy living. We have eaten the vegetables we grew in our little garden by the shed, had speakers educate us on healthy foods and cooking, a master gardener shared tips, and we continue to walk for exercise and fresh air!
On Sunday, May 20th, Church of the Holy Cross was officially certified as a Blue Zones Project Faith-based Organization. Jade Iokepa, Community Engagement Lead for East Hawaii and 2 interns, Joshua and Marilyn, presented us with our official banner and certificate. Armed with a huge pair of scissors, Pastor Eric and Moira Tanaka cut the blue ribbon to welcome us into the Project. A group picture was taken after worship to record our successful acceptance. The Trustees will be putting up our banner soon. By the way, did you try the kale chips served during refreshments – good Blue Zones food!
