Pastor’s Corner (Online Special): What I Did Last Week

It’s more than fair to ask what I’ve been up to when I jet away to the mainland to attend a meeting. So I thought I’d make this available to everyone (at least everyone willing to check things out on the Internet): What I Did at General Synod.
Unlike Sue Smith, who attended as a credentialed delegate with the responsibility to consider questions, suggest improvements, and vote, I was there as a storyteller. I came to follow the events and describe them as best I could for an audience at a distance. I worked for two “editors.” One was the Hawai’i Conference, for whom I wrote a daily summary, and the other was the United Church News team, for whom I wrote more specific stories. I also took photographs that appear in both places.
So here’s the list:
Daily Summaries:
Several of Hawai’i’s delegates contributed blog posts, photos, and videos. Click here to view them!
Stories for United Church News
Medical Aid in Dying Fails to Win Approval of Synod Delegates by Just a Few Votes
Synod Volunteers: Holding it Together with a Greeting and a Smile
Synod Honors Standing Rock Water Protectors
(I actually wrote two more stories about resolutions voted by the delegates, but they haven’t been posted.)
