Blood Bank Canteens, May 22 and July 17, 2017

The Blood Bank of Hawaii reports, “Every 2 seconds someone needs blood. Blood donations are critical. The majority of people in Hawaii need blood, but only a small fraction—about 2%–actually give it. Donations are needed every day to maintain an adequate blood supply and fulfill Hawaii’s needs. An hour of your time spent donating blood can mean a parent will see a child grow up. A son marry. A daughter graduate. It can mean a neighbor will come home from the hospital.  A mother will hold her newborn.  A friend survives cancer. “

Church of the Holy Cross will sponsor the Canteen for the Blood Bank of Hawaii on Monday, May 22,  and again on Monday, July 17 in the Building of Faith.

You may be called by a committee member to ask for help and we hope you will be generous in spirit and say “YES! I can help”.  Your donation of blood, refreshments, and/or help will be greatly appreciated.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  1. BLOOD DONORS: It is essential to have a good supply of blood for victims of accidents, surgeries, and illnesses. Call the Blood Bank at 1-800-372-9966 for an appointment.
  2. REFRESHMENTS: Snacks are needed for donors to eat after they donate blood. Holy Cross is known for having one of the best canteens in Hilo so donations of healthy snacks are needed.
  3. HELPERS: Volunteers are needed to preserve the food area and serve refreshments.  Please donate an hour or two for our community project.  Please call Karl at 238-6414 or Margaret at 895-0994 or Momi at the church office 935-1283 if you are willing to donate food or willing to help and haven’t been contacted.
  4. DONATIONS. Monetary donations to purchase refreshments are also appreciated.

Please save the dates, May 22, and July 17, 2017.

Thank you very much.
