2017 Lent and Easter Calendar
Mar 1 Ash Wednesday – First Day of Lent
Pastor Eric, the Board of Deacons, and other church leaders have assembled a body of suggestions and resources that you might use to observe the season and illuminate your hunger for the joys of Easter. Pick up a copy of “Ideas for Lenten Disciplines 2017,” a four-page description of the Lenten season, which considers the options of giving something up for the forty days and of taking up something new. Also available is a UCC Lenten daily devotional “Diving Lessons” for each household to share.
Bible Study sessions continue during the season, so this is a great opportunity to join in, if you haven’t already. Groups meet on Wednesdays at 9:30 am or at 6:30 pm, and study the Bible texts that will be part of worship the following Sunday. Also on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm, the IYAA continues their study of First Samuel. On Sunday mornings at 8:30 am, beginning on March 5th, the group will begin reading the Rev. Molly Phinney Baskette’s “Standing Naked Before God: The Art of Public Confession.”
