What I’m Thinking: Christmas is for You
Pastor Eric is thinking about Christmas – and about how its greatest miracle is that God cares so much for us as to enter the world in this amazing way.
Here’s a transcript:
Well, it’s no big surprise: I’m thinking about Christmas, because it’s coming up awfully soon.
On Saturday evening, we’ve got 7 PM Christmas Eve worship, and we’ll tell the stories and sing the carols and we’ll light the candles and we’ll enjoy the idea of a “Silent Night.”
And then on Christmas morning: It’s Sunday! So we’ve got worship, and our young people are taking the lead. They’ll do an “Instant” Christmas pageant – although I must admit that we did work ahead to make sure we had a baby to play Jesus. But again: we’ll tell the story; we’ll sing the carols.
Well, here’s what I’m thinking. I’m thinking that the most amazing thing about Christmas is not any of the miracles that we usually think of. It’s the simple fact that God cared so much for us as to intervene in the world, to be part of it with us in this remarkable way.
So what I’m thinking is that Christmas is for you, a gift for you from God.
And I really hope that you will take that into your heart, and ponder it as Luke says that Mary did when so many remarkable things happened around the birth of her son.
Merry Christmas.
