Be Prepared!
In June, we filled the “Emergency Preparedness Buckets” to be shared with our community in case a disaster hits the Hilo area. Items such as scouring pads, a scrub brush, disinfectant wipes, liquid concentrated household cleaner, liquid disinfectant dish soap, a tarp, 100 feet of clothesline, latex gloves and work gloves, dust masks, and a roll of heavy duty trash bags were packed in resealable five-gallon buckets. These items were donated by our members and friends of the church. 12 buckets with covers were donated by HPM Building Supply. Additionally, our members donated enough funds to purchase 3 more buckets and the items to fill them, so we packed 15 buckets which are stored in the Building of Faith. We are reminded that we share our resources, spiritual blessings and hope with all people in times of need. Thank you all for your overwhelming support! You are also reminded to pack a similar bucket at home, as well as emergency kits for the family. Items such as clothing and bedding, tools and supplies, sanitation items, water, food and special items need to be gathered. Hopefully we will not need to use these kits and buckets, but it’s safer to be prepared!
